Homecoming 2018: UC vs. Tulane

Sophomore running back Tavion Thomas announced he intends to transfer from the University of Cincinnati Wednesday.

Thomas was in-and-out of the rotation the first five games of the season and was ruled a probable redshirt candidate by head coach Luke Fickell after not making the trip to Houston Oct. 12.

A new NCAA rule allows players to redshirt a season if they participate in less than four games.

Fickell said Thomas not making the trip to Houston wasn’t injury related and the staff was focused on "getting him healthy both physically and academically."

Thomas has 689 rushing yards and seven touchdowns in his two seasons. The former three-star recruit from Dayton, Ohio had offers from Ohio State, Alabama and Oklahoma before committing to UC in February 2018.
