University of Cincinnati athletic director Mike Bohn is leaving the university to serve as athletic director of the University of Southern California.

Ryan Hays, the university's executive vice president who also serves as the president's chief of staff, will serve as acting director of athletics, UC Athletics announced Nov. 7.

"With Dr. Hays at the helm, my office will have direct oversight of athletics during this transition," said UC President Neville Pinto. "He has my full confidence in providing the leadership and stability necessary to sustain our tremendous momentum both on and off the field."

A national search for a new director of athletics will begin immediately.

"Given our amazing student athletes, our stellar coaches, our first-class facilities and our great and growing fan base and supporters, I am confident that we will recruit an outstanding permanent leader to UC," Pinto said.
