A construction accident on Calhoun Street caused a power outage spanning across several streets in the Clifton area.

A worker operating a lull forklift in the U-Square construction site knocked down a power line, said Paul Caudill, project super lieutenant.

Calhoun Street is blocked off by workers, restricting where people can walk.

Power outages were reported on Calhoun Street, Vine Street, Jefferson Avenue, Clifton Avenue and Scioto Lane. Businesses on the streets as well as the University Park Apartments are operating without power.

University of Cincinnati Police instructed students to allow themselves extra arrival and parking time via Twitter.

Duke Energy is on scene but an estimated time frame for recovery of power is unknown.

UCPD announced traffic control on Calhoun Street was restored at 4:50 p.m.
