Universities around the state, including the University of Cincinnati, have signed a pact in order to protect the environment.

Following Earth Day, 15 Ohio universities, including UC, signed a Memorandum of Understanding, stressing the importance of using secure and clean energy forms.

The University Clean Energy Alliance of Ohio has teamed up as part of Gov. Ted Strickland's plan to promote communication and knowledge sharing between Ohio universities.

Strickland spoke at the inaugural meeting of UCEAO where the pact was signed.

He applauded the signing of the memorandum as a benefit not only to the participating schools, but for all Ohioans.

Participating institutions include The Ohio State University, Cleveland State University, Miami University, Ohio University, Bowling Green State University and the University of Dayton.
