Allergies are expected to be worse this spring, according to UC physicians.
Warm weather came early causing pollen production to speed up.
Peak hours for pollen dispersal are between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. It is suggested to stay inside as much as possible during those hours.
Also recommended for reducing exposure are frequent baths, especially before bed, washing bed sheets in hot water once a week and keeping windows and doors shut. It also is suggested to use air conditioning instead of window fans.
Medical treatment for allergies can include antihistamines, decongestants and prescription nasal corticosteroids. Immunotherapy, or allergy shots, also is available.
Almost 40 million people suffer from seasonal allergies. Symptoms can include stuffy, runny nose, itchy eyes, sneezing and wheezing.
