Certain companies can no longer accept resumés at career fairs, beginning with the Career Development Center's Annual Bearcat Tracker's Careerfest scheduled to be held April 4.
The Department of Labor's Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs has mandated that companies with government contracts track resumés through their applicant tracking systems, which means these companies cannot accept paper resumes.
Students may still bring resumés to the fair, however, not all employers can accept them. It also is suggested that students bring 3x5-inch business cards with contact information on them. Alternatively, blank cards and pens are available at the check-in desk. Students can collect recruiter's business cards and information to fax or mail resumés after the fair.
The CDC also suggests students view participating companies' Web sites to see if they have an online resume tracking system.
The Annual Bearcat Tracker's Careerfest is scheduled to be held April 4 from noon to 4 p.m. in Tangeman University Center's Great Hall.
